Contraindications of massage
Although massage is highly benefitial in most of the cases, there are a few conditions that may make it inadvisable.
Total contraindications to massage: The client suffering from the following should avoid massage completely.
- High fever
- Some skin conditions
- Undisagnosed lumps.
- Unexplained pain.
- Cancer
- Loss of skin sensation
- Strong drugs or painkillers
Partial contraindications to massage: The client suffering from the following should avoid massage in the area affected.
- Swelling- Inflammation
- Heavy bruising
- Recent scar tissue
- Fresh wounds
- Bone fractures
- Varicose veins
Medical advise required: The client suffering from the following should avoid massage until they check with their doctor and get their written permission.
- Diabetes
- Thrombosis
- Heart disease
- AIDS
- Psychiatric illness
- Pregnancy
- Recent inoculations
- Hyperthyroid condition
